Connie, the BRB , Big Red Book, is simply Chambers dictionary. 33 D. An R inserted into your letters will provide the 'course', 'dropping English' is what you've done to the E, from Fear, risk.
Sadly, my BRB rarely comes off the shelf these days. I have the old CD-ROM on my laptop and it is so conveneient. My BRB is more up-to-date and happily does get some usage. Plus I am one, in a minority I think, who loves the pink-lined pages in the middle of my 12th edition!
My 1998 edition of the BRB is my usual go-to option but I use the two later editions I have (one of those courtesy of 'The Spectator') if need be. I agree about the pages in the middle.
