Of course I was stuck on MP being a Member of Parliament and the hours I spent going through lists of headgear, I cannot get back! Thanks for that big clue.

I had got Collared days ago but had not bothered to look up its meaning in Chambers to see that it answered the clue perfectly. Thanks for help.

In financial terms, how could you refer to a tax year.
Alternatively look up six letter birds beginning with F.

Re 42 Lady Bee. Am I right in thinking that the word "Pacific" starting with a capital "P" is to put us off thinking of the same word without the capital which refers to peace? The second 4 letter word also refers to peace.
I can't see the connection to "rolled up and bound with string".
My Chambers doesn't mention that!!!!

Thanks, lady bee ! Just 15, 17 and 45 needed now. Much searching for anything about "tail nibblers" has so far brought nothing, but still looking!

Lady Bee I disagree with your answer to 87, my answer fits the clue but doesn't start with F

I haven't got the "tail nibbler" No. 15 but have the other 2.
17. Look for the genus of a well known, noisy black and white bird who annoys and frightens small birds.
45 First 2 letters come from THE in clue. The last 6 is the plural of a well known usually tallish water plant. Often with the name of a large male animal first - 4 letters - related to the cow!!!!

Re the "tail nibbler". Have seen the suggestion of "motmot" and French but doesn't mean anything to me although motmot is a bird.

Jennifer - thanks for 17 & 45 - and if it's any help, my Chambers indicates that a motmot is a bird which "nibbles its tail feathers into a racket shape"!! (Good enough for me!).

Jennifer 42. Second word is a bird of peace but the first word isn't. The meaning of the clue is given in Chambers.

Hi again Lady Bee. I'm going to dive right here.
Re 42. I have searched Pacific in my Chambers and all I find is references for peace. Nothing about Collard which you mentioned earlier. Am I right in think the answer is Collared Dove. If so could you tell me the connection with "rolled up and bound with string".
Re 87. Am I right in going for Fiscal as the bird as Kace is not convinced.
Re 15. Am I right in going for Motmot. It's a very pretty bird and the info about it says it's a tail nibbler but can't find the French connection.

Thanks for your help.
