This struck me as a hard puzzle! Thanks to Everyman. It took me longer than many (if not most) Prize puzzles, and I had to consult this thread for a couple of parsings.
Funny, I only recently started doing the weekly Everyman because I previously assumed it would be too easy. :)

Well, going in later--there it was, as I had k left it.
I am struggling with 4 across and 10 across. Am I right that 4a is an anagram of the president minus the French for mother?
And I am totally clueless on the playwright clue.
Hints would v be helpful

Playwright: anagram of (half of "Shaw") + (all but one letter of "reading")

DS, 4a is the name of a president, minus an abbreviation for 'mother', around a type of bubbly.

Got there. Tricky. Agree all very intricate. FoI was 1a until I got 2d and realised I was wrong. Ah well. So FoI correctly was 1d which I quite like. LoI was 25a. Had the reversing scandinavian for ages but had just not got the word. I like the spoonerism. Its not quite right but I always love saying them out loud. But for me CoD is 5d - luv it mate. Good puzzle, amusing postings, have a good Sunday.

Very good I thought with quite a few write-ins and others that required some unpacking (2d, 7d, 8d). I didn’t know that word meant degree of precision either, interesting.
Liked on and off as an indicator. Only niggle was 13a felt a little awkward in that the word for spout is part of the answer and the envelope word.

Thanks for the parsing of 7d. I don't think 3d works, and I can't parse all of 21a.
9a my favourite too.

Hi Jono,

13a - I'm not sure what you mean. I've got a 3 letter word for "spout" going around/"about" a 3 letter word for "aliens" (the plural of the usual 2 letter word) with the definition "they're often seen in the sky".
