Everything started out fast and furious and fun... until a dead stop at the SE corner. After many long blank stares, I realized I'd made a mistake (so much for my theatre background) but that still left a couple of empties that turned out to be two really dreadful, 'orrible clues. I look forward to seeing if other people other agree. Meanwhile... over to you Brendan.

Yes - I agree about the SE corner. My LOI was 22d but I was annoyed how obvious it was when I knew the answer. I thought 21d was extremely clever though.

Yet again I forgot to look for the rhyming long answers - across and down this week. Would have helped in solving.

Another fine “Everyman” offering using a reasonable accessible lexicon. For me, the last three down clues were particularly enjoyable - 19, 21, 22.

Have to go now to get some sleep. Night all

Except for 22d, where I can’t get the meaning of the bigger mustaches part, the rest of the puzzle was ok. I liked 15a and 26a, though we need to look up Google to confirm.

Yes. My last two in were also 21d and finally 22d. I still think the clue for 21d is incomplete - but I'll concede that 22d is clever. I just couldn't resist hinting by calling it 'orrible.

I suspect 21d is intended to be &Lit

I was stumped by 21d and 22d until I realised I had an incorrect entry for 24a. I did 'ave a smile at 22d, though. I counted 3 pairs rhyming and 5? &Lit clues.

Well, that was a quite a bit trickier than usual and I'm still not sure I have 22d correct, despite having lived in the East End for for about 30 years! I get the dropped aitch but does the answer really mean "topic"? 'Field' or 'sphere' but not topic - or have I gone wrong?

Sounds like we have the same answer Brendan. I think I can just about make the definition work, but I see what you’re saying
