I think I've finished this really, but I don't know the first part of the final instruction. I'd be grateful for a steer on the definitions to 1d and 5d for completion.
(Cheater's last words / producer of best image).

Lumen, I D 'cheater's last words', with a correction - your entry won't be standard English. 5 D, first four words, correction needed in the third.

I need a little more...I was already pretty sure where the corrections were needed, but can't see either of them. Cheater becomes an American proper name maybe?
And I have been learning an awful lot about scans without seeing the other one!

Lumen, "cheater" becomes an American spelling to account for the American spelling of the answer (I in an abbreviation and a synonym for record)

5 down is an anagram of the italicised words minus H(ot)

Second part of previous post isn't what you wanted... the corrected letters are the same in the two clues you ask about. HTH a bit more!
