I cannot spot the misprints - which is proving rather annoying. I have them in 7,19,21,23,27 & 31 - is that correct? I'm also assuming the second work includes modifying a 5 letter answer and a 4 letter string - but currently at a loss as to how.

1,3,5,7,9,19,21,23,27,31

That gives me an instruction (5,5) that confuses me further

Gitto - I found that wiki for the first work gave me more of a clue

You should have a 4 letter "word" after following the 5,5 instruction. This instructs you to change one letter to another [in the name of the first work's creator] and then you almost home

I think I have completed - but remain perplexed. I've changed one letter, derived from interpreting the title, to produce
the name of the author of the second work but cannot see the connection (signalled immediately above) with the first work's creator.

Like others I dislike looking for misprints and cannot see the ones in 3 down (I had g for mag which seemed to fit well but was clearly wrong) and 23 down, if anyone can help.

However a good puzzle and, for me anyway, about the right level of difficulty. Mrs Seal said yesterday 'it keeps you amused but surely no-one will be on that forum today'. So thank you tatters and others..
