Thanks unclued and candledave. 'On vacation' threw me. I must look out for these indicators in future. On 3 down I really think that mag is a better answer.

Oh well. A very wet sandbank predicted here tomorrow.

I’m being a bit dense here but am I right in thinking across extras are in 1, 11,17,36,37&39 plus one other I can’t fathom? Then if the fifth word of 1 is the extra one that gives P from the answer but the letters I’ve got so far aren’t making sense. The rubric says the extra words are used too. Help!

Rickye, not 11...try the next clue. The others look right to me. They give you five things and the other two equivalents are in the grid and need to be treated in context.

Krauton @12, fittingly the down clues with the misprints are the odd numbers.

Posting without looking at the thread so apologies if this has been asked/answered already...should 19D read "vacation" before an alteration rather than "vocation" ?
