Many thanks tatters, but this one is not the most difficult for quite a long time. There are too many indications to the theme that make parsing most of the clues relatively straightforward. I assume a maths puzzle is not too far away?

This isn’t my type of Listener when the endgame is going to take longer than the grid fill as I still am not sure what I am looking for but will look again later.

As gitto says, once you see the pretty obvious gimmick, some of the clues become rather trivial. I prefer a harder battle on the cryptic side that leads to a satisfying (and easy to spot!) endgame but each to their own I guess.

Agree with Candledave. The gimmick was easy to spot and the grid fill took little longer than a couple of this week’s Times puzzles. However I still have no idea what the theme is as I can’t find any interpretation of the title that fits the gimmick, let alone work out which letter to change or what the group is.

Next week almost certainly will be a numerical, which gives me a free weekend to work on this if I still haven’t got the theme!
