8d - second word is 4 letters for "beat" followed by 2 letters for E(questria)N "gutted". Don't forget that 8d and 7d are a rhyming pair.

Re my last post I should have added the letters I have in case thats what the problem is

Check your answer to 26a - it's 2 letters for "spin" + E(ngland) + 4 letters for "give up" - definition is "introduce".

8d - 1st word is "dangerous game" (played with traffic) - all your letters are correct except for the T.

Brendan, thanks for this - I had the first word and can see the second now looks like my answer to 26ac is the problem.
I had the T as the last letter from introduce meaning what happened to debs when they 'came out' (old-fashioned meaning)

it's "introduce" as in "go before" or "preface" and it's "give up" as in relinquish.
