Hi FemmeNoire,

4d - Is the equivalent of singing with an imaginary microphone but with an instrument.

10a - Yes, an adventurer - 3 letter synonym for "doctor" (as a verb) around 3 letter "beer" then "who essentially".

Thanks! Totally makes sense now ( both). 4d is rather lovely.
Turns out I had 5d incorrect which threw me off the scent for 10a.

Morning all, struggling through today four left and definitely need a hint or two. I had got 10a but had not seen 4d so thanks for that. Hint on 1a or 1d would be much appreciated.

Hi Yevrah,

1a - Is a straight anagram - definition is "hilarious joke" (think of what someone might do in a pantomime when they hear a great joke)

1d - "sleeping quietly" with one of the P's ("quietly once") replaced by usual single letter for "student" - definition is (name of a) "poet".

Sorry Yevrah,

1d - is just "sleeping" with the "quietly once" referring to one of the P's, the rest is as I said.

No need. Amazing how, when one goes back some just pop out. I had been staring at the 1a anagram for so long and then it hit me, or rather, slapped me. 1a was not difficult just had a brain freeze. FOI 19a. LOI 5d. CODs 16d and 12a.

A good workout, a few tricky ones. I can’t parse my last one which I think is right, 26A Introduce spin: England to give up (7). I have P.E.E.E which can only really give one word but why?

Well done, glad you got it sorted:-)

1a reminds me of Blackadder (Elizabeth 1 season) where "Bob" is trying to convince Blackadder that she is a he and does 1a whenever told a joke.

Hi Cymro,

26a - 2 letters for "spin"(as in an Ad agency) + E(ngland) + 4 letters for "give up" - definition is "introduce".
