Sorry Lucy, I got that back to front...

15a definition is where you "get meat" and is a homophone of "Indian city"

Thanks Brendan for 9d, and my mistake 19a, not 15a!

No problem..

19a A + word meaning "western" (it's not a common word - at least I had to look it up!)) with the (burr)O at the front removed - definition is "random"

Ahh! That's clever. Thank you. I was trying to think of John Wayne movies!
And seeing I've finished today's earlier than usual, I might look up yesterday's via the link - thanks

That word for ‘western’ (and the only reason I knew it) cropped up in a mid-week Guardian cryptic by Anto a few weeks back, in a near identical clue in fact (at least in construction).
No. 28,190 if you’re interested

I'm left with 22d and 25a. Any hints

Hi Thesadman, (I love these usernames:-)

22d is an alternate/"regularly" letter type clue for the first four letters then (ute)N(sil) (essentially nearly always means the middle letter) - definition is the whole clue

25a first word is a homophone/"reportedly" of a word meaning "was familiar with" and the second word is the outer 4 letters/"parameters" of "mornington" - definition is "crescent"

I really enjoyed 25a. 😃 Not come across this use of “parameters” before, but I have just dabbled in cryptic crosswords over the years and only recently have been participating regularly, so maybe it’s well known? Smit I was also looking for a Clue reference for ages - I became a fan as a teenager and have loved the long-running Radio 4 gem ever since (now in my 50s). Oh how Tim Brooke-Taylor will be missed.

19a thanks for the explanation Brendan. A new word to add to my lexicon! It was obvious what the answer was, but not why.

I have been using the Guardian Puzzles app (since lockdown started in March) and would be interested to hear how others access the Guardian crosswords.

Hi Femmenoire - seriously, these names are great 😀

If you go to my post @20 I've given a link to the Guardian puzzle website. From this you can access all the Everymans and Prize crosswords, as well as the daily cryptics.

PS the daily Guardian cryptics are very handy for those new to cryptic crosswords because there is a "reveal" button below them, if you get stuck.

FemmeNoire,
Yes, I use the iPad app rather than the online link. I like that it keeps your history locked in and gives you a calendar view so you can go back to earlier puzzles and pick off any that you missed or indeed work backwards through time!
