(UK) morning all. Fairly easy but had to retry several. FOI 9a. LOI 4d.
Though I am not convinced that I have 1a correct. HINTS WELCOME. I have -e-r-- -d-a- . I assume the two words are 'looking' and 'brainwaves' ??? My COD 9d.

Hi Yevrah,
1a is the name of an author (anagram). I’m afraid your D and A are wrong.

Jono, thanks got it. Now i see the swapping fronts in 5d. I like that. As would Rev Spooner perhaps. Hope all are safe. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Hi Richard,

That's a good clue, if you don't already you should take part in the weekly clue compiling competitions on this thread.

I've just realised 6d is the name of a group..doh!

Unusually for me I finished this at first pass through. 5d was COD for me. Thanks Everyman.

There a few neat devices here which I’ll have to note for future reference, ‘swapping fronts’, ‘peeled twice’ and ‘parameters’ in particular

A good one today - FOI 1a, LOI 25a (I tried to see how "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" might fit in!).

Enjoyed today's esp as we didn't get a our paper yesterday so missed out on the prize - which sounds hard! Haven't been able to parse 9d or 15a though I'm pretty sure I've got them both correct. hard to choose a COD, liked a lot of them but always esp enjoy the literary/theatrical ones.

Hi Lucy,

You can access all the Everyman and Guardian crosswords here:-

https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords/series/prize

9d 4 letter word for "wine" + In + G(allons) + 4 letter "rose" all under S(un) - definition is "shade"

15a is a homophone of a place where you might "get meat" - definition is "Indian city"
