I'm unsure about my solution for 3D. Would anyone care to hint at the parsing? Does it contain an obscure theme word?

Leonine, 3d has a 4-letter theme word, but I don't think it's obscure.
[A surprised comment about a 2-letter abbreviation for 'races'] all around theme word + 'a note'.

39a - any tips would be gratefully received fed, even though it's such a short answer. I've got ?a?a, and can't get past one answer hitch I can't justify.

Stuck with 59a (my last one). Have *o*s*l*e*s. Is this right? If so, any hints?

Thanks Mattrom, I was on a lake on the Nile with a big white bird,

Ianwil, your letters are correct.
The theme starts with that 'o' and ends with the 'l'

Just three left and not a clue! 59A .O.S.L...S I think I have the bird but not a clue about the surround. Also, 34A T.R.E/.E.S.S. Finally, 47D P.S.E.I.. Is this the final themed one? Any help/ firm clues would be welcome.

Hi all - can someone give a hint to the parsing of 38D. I have all the crossers and the answer is clear, but can’t parse. I assume it’s one of the themed clues? Many thanks
