Ok thanks Ianwil I hadn't seen that. That's the answer I had but like I said I have struggled to parse loads of these answers. 40d another example. It could only be one answer but I have no idea other than the leg part.

rocky7: two is I I plus R for roubles. The theme word is four letters long and is also tobacco.

Only stuck on a few now, including 35 down:
Rain oddly permeating comparatively soaked pen (5,1,6)

Is it something to do with wetter (comparatively soaked)?

Worked it out! Now only 16a left, which seems to have caused difficulties for a few people.

Docrum, It's a theme word in the outside of 'twitchers'. Def. is the first 6 words.

I've just noticed that Rogissimo gave this same information @ post 26.
This particular def. didn't come up when I Googled the word, but it is in Chambers.

A belated thank you Mattrom. I should have confirmed those four letters were indeed a theme word rather than just assuming that they were not.
