15. I cannot parse this one and also 8.

15 - single letter for 'about' after single letter for 'old' followed by synonym for 'pelt' after a letter is changed.
8 - 2 outside letters of 'disease' inside (snaffled) synonym for stray

15 - defn is 'rowing'...

change last e to an i and you should see the wordplay. Look up the answer in chambers and you'll see it can mean the first word of the clue, surprisingly.

Does the second couplet start at the same place as the first one in the grid perimeter? I cannot find anything that will fit

I’m getting nowhere with this. I’ve filled the grid, and know who the poet is. I’ve traveled through al his entries in the ODQ and can’t find anything that fits. I’ve looked through his works in Wikipedia etc. and don’t know where to begin, given he wrote an awful lot of fairly long poems.

quiz - I suspect you have landed on the wrong poet somehow. His ODQ entry is pretty brief and has exactly what you want.
