Any further hints for getting the second couplet? I've tried googling the authors name and the colour and all I get is the first poem.

Enjoyed the gridfill and the first poem but now getting a bit cross at how one is supposed to identify the second one.

I think I've solved all the clues but struggling to parse 18 Fish and monkey.... and 21 Eagle with base....
I have a fish (with a monkey included) and a bush (Australian).

If the subject this week is a poet,
Then I guess that I must be (1,2)
Thirty-one simple clues … hard to blow it!
Leaves me lots of time (3,4) … um … other stuff.

(Not as easy as it looks, this rhyming malarky!)

The reason why the 'poet' lost his academic position - see his wikipedia entry - has extraordinary similarities to recent events here in the UK. Plus ça change...

If you have the correct fish and the correct monkey, simply look up in Chambers meanings of the letters after the monkey...
