Thanks again, tatters - I've enjoyed it and I've found everything I need... but nearly half of that which is 'findable in the grid' still eludes me.

As it appears to be surplus to requirements I'll leave it for now... but it will rankle (so if anyone can help without giving too much away, I'd very much appreciate it).

In the highlighting the 27 cells, to get from the first letter to the third
of the 3 letter word after the 5 letter event, there seems to be two of the required letter in adjacent cells (the 3rd and 4th letters of 6d) - how do we know which one to pick? Also, isn't it a few yards short?

I’ve come so far but need a nudge for end game. Grid filled except 25a. Letters of swapped clues found but can’t get a location out of them. No idea of theme yet. Hints please.
