I really enjoyed this, but I wouldn't say it was the easiest Everyman I've ever done.

Many of the clues have well disguised definitions and, even when they become clear, still require a lot of working out.

There are the usual mix of clues but there does appear to be far fewer anagrams than we've had in recent weeks.

The only clue I have a slight problem with is 27a, which doesn't really make sense, and I wonder if it originally ended in Y and was changed by the editor.

Anyway, that minor quibble aside, this was a most enjoyable puzzle.

Thanks to Everyman:-)

1d reminded me of a plagiarism case he was involved in - utterly bizarre!

I see what the parsing of 27a is now and it works fine - my mistake:-(

I found the northeast corner of the puzzle really tough, since I did not know the name of football team in 6d. I haven’t seen that Brando’s popular movie too, in 13a!

Hi Mathi,

I can imagine that it would make things quite difficult if you don't the team in question. I can picture Brando standing at the bottom of the staircase shouting the answer - it's a very well known scene from the film.

I can’t figure out the Spoonerism in 8d too, though I got the answer as a ‘sentence arrangement’ from the missing letters.

@8d the Spoonerism of the answer would be 3 letter word for "cheap" (think metal) + 3 letter abbr. of a "horn" - so it would be a T..S... instead of a brass one.

Thanks a lot. I understand now! A somewhat difficult Spoonerism.

I had exactly the same thought regarding the Y (or not) in 26a. I see it now, thanks Brendan!

I've no idea what's going on in 13a - obviously I haven't seen the right movie. Not keen on 16d.

Loved 2d!
