Thanks Brendan,

I just buy the i as a paper and do a photocopy (or more than one sometimes!) I've noticed that some people do it in a spreadsheet but that's one of the Dark Arts to me.

JBTW, I know this is a bit obvious but have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling you printer?

Thanks Nelson, yes I tried that with the original disc and set the whole thing up again as if from scratch, but it just won't work with Windows 10.

Sorry - yes, I see now that you said that earlier.

And I sympathise. There was nothing wrong with Windows 95, don't know why they had to go and mess with it.

Okay, I got a filled grid with everything parsed bar 26a Home, one says, this isolated bit of land - the answer is clear but the parsing eludes me (is it a homophone?)

I haven't got the instruction yet so hints are most welcome. I wondered if it might be the 3 rd letter in each clue, after Richard, but clearly not. I'm not that au fait with Richard III (although it does contain my favourite ever pun) or the Battle of Bosworth Hill so telling me the letters are thematically placed isn't much help:-(

Sorry, Bosworth Field - I told you I didn't know much about it (except for the Blackadder episode with Peter Cook and a briiliiant documentary on Youtube about identifying his bones in that carpark)

'holm' is the homophone, brendan (a small islet, usually in a river).

There's a mnemonic for the colours, you've probably heard it before - try using it as a simple counting device.

Thanks for 26a.

Now I'm more confused than ever. Are you saying it's the 7th letter in each clue - that works for the 4 clues but then seems to break down.

How does the mnemonic help, is it a different number for each clue?

Check again - it works for all the clues.
