I've enjoyed it very much - but am more intrigued by your comment malone. Too early for any other comment!

Thanks, Nelson. I feel my comment is quite safe, nowhere near spoiler territory, as the preamble talks about 'colouring'. Brendan is a colouring fan, it's come up a couple of times recently!

I've filled the grid and got the instruction but I'm at a loss to know how to follow it. The "silvered" cells don't seem to help as they appear random. Regarding the second and third words of the instruction, which ones?

I have a full grid and the final coloured 84 cells but need help getting the instruction. I don’t understand how to select the significant letters.

Quesue, there is a significant number associated with what you have coloured and the answer to 13a. Use that number to selected a letter from each of the clues.

But how you managed to do the colouring I have no idea!

Hi orson, look for the acronym suggested by the puzzle title in a row combined with the instruction and the silvered cells in the grid.

I see what you mean, ginge, thanks. My problem was/is that if we draw curves then how are we going to colour the gaps between in and get exactly 84 squares? Also, unless I'm wrong, the 13a is not the usual way round, which for a long time I assumed it would be.
