Orson - thank you, so obvious when it’s pointed out! For the colouring first look at the silvered section in the centre on a diagonal - that is how I saw what was needed.

Well once again I am stuck. I had the completed grid, the instruction, the acronym and 13a before I went out for a walk and an ice cream. But now I am back and still mystified as to how to colour in....please help.

Alas, the RoY in question was the father of the R killed at Bosworth (he was RoG before he was RIII). But that untypical error doesn't mar the puzzle.

Jogamel, for each colour, start with the acronym. Imagine a diagonal from NW to SE and where you finish is symmetrical to the start about that line. I think arcs in the instruction is misleading as the result is very blocky. If that's still not clear, imagine you are just looking at the left half of the object.

Brendan, sorry for changing your name - and your sex/gender - earlier (post 5). Blame my inaccurate typing and my inattentive proof-reading.

No problem Malone.

I've drawn the grid but I'm still in the process of writing out all the clues, which is time consuming but I do find it very therapeutic. I did get some ink for my printer but alas, despite them being 'refurbished' Dell cartridges, my printer doesn't recognize them:-( Although strangely, I can put a document in and scan it and then print off a copy of that, as long as I do everything with from the printer itself, it just won't print anything else! To add insult to injury, the driver no longer works with Windows 10 - I've tried re-installing it but it says I have the latest one. I went on to Dell's own website and the most recent OS driver they have is Vista! I can also instruct the printer to scan a document from my laptop, but then if I press 'Print' it says it's not connected!

All very frustrating and I would have been better off just buying a new printer, but, like I said, it does give me an excuse to get all my pens and pencils out - doesn't take much to please me these days:-)

Thanks, Brendan. That's true determination - masochism?- writing out all the clues. There's a lot, and some of them are on the wordy side. I opted for a shorter route...

Not totally convinced about my 84 cells. I had a couple shaded in (S and M) that I had to remove so I could add 3 either side of my NW-most 3.

Hi Nelson,

I just find it easier to have the clues in my hands rather than to have to keep going back to my laptop I find it makes it easier for making notes and trying to work out the wordplay. Also, when I've finished (assuming I do!) I like to file them away and, if I didn't have the clues written with grid, they wouldn't make much sense. I really don't mind it and it doesn't take that long - usually, though as Malone said earlier, the clues in this IQ are very 'wordy':-)
