I’m stuck!!

I’ve cleared the grid and filled in my answers but I have blank spaces, no idea how to work out unclued answers and the grid is full of non words.

Have I gone awry?

Help please.

First solution took me a couple of hours. Transferring that to the new grid, another hour. Then the pain set in!! Five hours later I have finally cracked this swine. I thought the end game, given no hints whatsoever (excluding the ref. to place names), was a tortuous grind, especially when I had never heard of one of them. At least it ensured me of half a waking days worth of social distancing - I now need a drink...…….

Pretty trick grid fill, but after my experience with the horrendous end-game of Harribobs' "London Bus" in last week's EV I am not tempted by the second grid. Other fish to fry!!

Is the unchecked letter in 33a an 'S'? Seems to work ok but not brilliantly as an answer. But using it I keep hitting a dead end trying to repopulate the grid. Almost certainly me miscounting somewhere, but would be good to get confirmed before I continue with the painful slog...

That's what I've got Smellyharry, at least in phase 1 anyway, I'm in the process of psyching myself up for phase 2!

Well, I'm a glutton for punishment, so I risked another outing with Harribobs - at least I could get off this time, when I reached my destination.
Thanks for posting the puzzle again, tatters - my usual newspaper grid wouldn't have survived the journey.

Working my way through the clues but struggling to complete first grid. Entered after cycling? Is that reversed, top to tail or opposite, anagram or something completely different! Thanks
