All done in Phase 1 except 23ac. I have the four checked letters, but can’t make a word on any way. Help, please

23a is a (to me, obscure) word for a portrait painter.
A word for a ship around abb. for married.

Many thanks, Mattrom. I was looking for a famous artist

I’ve now filled in all the known answers, with no clashes. Now struggling with the final two destinations.
I was expecting to see some sort of order in the grid, but it seems as random as the first filling. Is there some pattern eventually?

Finished.

Interesting slog to generate the locations.
Initially thought there might be some thread with the locations, such as a pilgrimage or Wesleyan tour or even Tour de UK cycle race.
Apart from one diversion up north our compiler is definitely a lover of the southern climes.

Would have liked the preamble to state which across clues to use in Phase 2, eg use the extant solutions or the uncycled ones. Fortunately chose the right option.

Thank you Harribobs

Using the extant ones leads to several letter clashes along the way.

Having completed the second grid, I have just noticed hat I didn't get the initial letter in 30dn and although it is irrelevant to the new grid, I could do with a nudge so I can put it away.

I think it uses a three letter verb for commit offence; final word is an alternate, less common, spelling, of a named raised piece of ground. Corrections welcome.

Tatters. The last letter of the 3 letter word to commit an offence occupies the top square of 30 dn.

Ok thanks. Seems obvious enough in retrospect. Couldn't understand how o could represent a hill and it didn't seem to matter anyway!!

Tatters. Glad that helped. Had a quick look at using the extant clues and you’re right it breaks down very quickly.
Really hoped Harribibs was going to use Barnard Castle, Durham or environs! Guess he wouldn’t have had time 😉
