Cold solved half the downs but no idea where to put them. Any hints?

I think you need the entry method for the acrosses (13 letters, an archaism from Greek) the down answers are entered normally in the order given.
I've seen at least a couple of crosswords over the years using the same entry method seen here.

Hello I have all the down answers and the question. I have about half the across answers but not sure how to enter them. Can you elaborate on your hint regarding entry method please?

Bunty, 1a has definition at the end and is an anagram minus tale so.
