I shoved Seth in yesterday and it held me up for a while!

Even when I had the correct 4 letters it still took an age to find the right word.

I’ve pretty much done - got the theme and virtually all the clues.
Top half though missing 16 ac access ground on banks of Rhine
(8) I’m assuming this starts re ( banks of Rhine)as the end is o?rs?
And 7ac brutal blade recoiled ( 6)
Is some kind of knife backwards? Katana .. is that a Japanese sword ? Mostly done with out help so far although the forum answers backed up my solve to date

16a definition is "access" (and is the 2 letters you've got + 6 letter word for "ground"

7a definition is a common word meaning "brutal' and is a 6 letter "blade" (think sheet or layer) reversed

7. The blade isn't relating to a knife, it's in relation to a plant, and yes it gets reversed. 'Brutal' is the definition.

Anag 'cheese' on the outsideof another word for taxi (something in 'rank').
