Now I come to think of it, although I haven't had Wensleydale, I have had the one in the clue, but I had thought the first word ended in 'Y' not 'ING' - at least that's what my sister-in-law called it.

Follow up to 15:
I have finished it without pressing any more reveal buttons! However I will not send it in this week as I got one answer in that way.
I have written to the tech people at the Guardian. I don’t like this new update on the I Pad but crossword is better. The phone app is as before. What do others think of it?

Hi Mangobean
Welcome to the forum.
I have used iPad for years to tackle both the Guardian Prize and Everyman crosswords.
I don't know of any update. This morning I checked and all I had was 'Clear all' at the base of the Prize grid. The name of the setter has always been shown on the Prize (This week shown as Paul)

@ Mangoban, sorry for my error in your name.
I have been informed that there is a Guardian app (I don't have that) Maybe that is the app where you saw the grid ?

Hi Mangoban and welcome to the forum.

Like Jazzgirl, I've just realised that a Guardian app with a paid subscription has been released. I hope the online version we've all been using stays free to use.

Am I the only one who uses the newspaper and pencil? The rubber on the end of the pencil is a useful accoutrement.

7a Def. = 'One enforcing justice from on high'

2 letter abbr. of 'Doctor' followed by a synonym for 'Set free'.

14,1d Def. = Broadcasting polemicist (think radio)

White = 4 letter word (think 'Wine') followed by a 1 letter abbr. for 'Knave' (think playing cards) - all inside/screens a word meaning 'Hit'.
