Hard to believe this is by the same setter as the Everymans of the last few weeks. I found it different in style, wit and difficulty - still, all done and, as they say, variety is the spice of life:-)

Thanks Mattrom! That parse was driving me crazy too. Obviously the answer couldn't be anything else once you had the crossing letters, but I just couldn't see it. I agree with Brendan -- the puzzle's a very different beast from the last few weeks. But I reckon it's still the same setter (stylistically, the 1A/25A and 9D/11A clues follow a pretty familiar pattern) -- they've just been told to ratchet down the difficulty.

Perhaps too much wine last night but I found this to be a similar level of difficulty to last week.

I have the answer to 20a, a synonym for “pouts” which uses the “Kelvin” in the clue, but I can’t parse the whole thing.

Richard, if you put a 'certain Kelvin' in your answer, you'd have 'hangs around'...

So Malone - how does this clue work? I still can't see it. Thanks!

Jertax…

Missing a certain Kelvin, hangs around and pouts (5)

I'm reluctant to give the answer, some people might still be doing this, but...

A six letter word meaning 'hangs around' becomes a five letter word meaning 'pouts' if you take out one letter ('a certain Kelvin).

Thank you for this and also skilfully not giving the complete answer.
