Xwordfan, glad I could help. I needed the list of omitted letters to confirm my final entries, there were several points where I could have gone astray!

I seem to have the H from hotter left over and I’m missing the middle letter of 28 down r?n.

Teenieleek, the H is used in 23 A.

28 D - there's a four letter word, beginning with what you have, that means both frog and prince. (The last letter gets dropped).

Thanks Malone, I’d put an R in 23 so of course I then ran out of Rs. 28dn - duh!
BUT, I now have an “I” when I wanted a “U” for 12 ac, although I don’t understand that one at all.
This is what comes of being a bit gung-ho, slapdash even.

Teenieleek, I no longer have all my scribbles. My finished version has the I in 21 a and an A in 12 A. (I hope I've rounded them all up properly!)
