Stuck on 19d - my last one. I have ?r?n?i. I can think of a former protectorate (not French) that fits but can't make any sense of the wordplay. Could someone point me in the right direction?

I'm probably being very dim about this but I already have the first related 6 entered elsewhere.

I'm talking about the second set of six which the rubric says could be alternative definitions to the first. 27 is the alternative definition to 6.

8 The 'granny' isn't a relative... more of a bind. The 'stage' is a level, row of something...

5. Spirit, liquor, is the definition. An abbreviation for 'accepted' and a four-letter word for 'anguish'. The other letter must be one of those mentioned in the preamble stuff, I didn't do all of that!

6 is the supplementary definition (as in the second set of six) to 16 - so not defined
