I never knew a cricket meant that! However I'm having difficulty with the final step. The version of this with which I'm familiar would require the central part to be obliterated, but there is an adjective in the place you would expect which suggests otherwise. OK, so I do it that colour. But the final bit? Changing 1 letter for 2? Is the checking entry still a word?

Woodlouse, fully = up. If this is the setter's first Listener, it is a most assured debut. Delightful.

Woodlouse, fifth letter of 19d is not unclued. Look at the clue again and remember, there are no superfluous words

Apologies if I led anyone astray in an earlier post. 4 Down is NOT an extra letters clue.

h A r M t O m E m B r A n E s

Is the correct wordplay.

Anyone going to push the boat out on the omitted letters?

I think I have the following
a W in 8 across (left)
a T in 11 across (left) & 10 down (left)
a T in 13 across (left) & 10 down (left)

DE in 16 across (left) & D in 2 down (left)

I have P in 20 across and UP in 19 Down

Doesn't look right for a curved line. Where did I slip up?
