Hi Mattrom and others

I realise I was a bit confused last night. I actually have the Bs. I don't know what the usual synonym for bend is for D(5).

I am really struggling with the Es. I'm stuck on the Rugby Player one which should be thematic. But I can't seem to fit them into the grid.

I'm also struggling with L(8). I only have one 8 letter space in my grid which is ?I?O?S?S. It's not a thematic one I think.

I can't make an anagram out of art and Jane beginning with N. Have I got the wrong idea? I'd like to put Nouveau in but it has to be a theme word and anyway doesdn't fit.

Lastly, are there 26 theme words?

L is a breed of cattle. Your final S is wrong.

The N anagram results in a very odd word (it has two identical vowels after the N).

Roof, for the D word, U is often used for 'bend' in crosswords.

I've counted 28 thematic ones. You're correct in thinking the E rugby player one is themed.

Roof, for the Rugby player....
Take the Clubs, usual crossword indicator, off a term for a player in rugby, then add four letters from the start of an 8-letter word meaning 'exclusive circles'. As it's a thematic answer, you might get it from just the 'rugby player' bit.

Thanks Malone

I think I have the answers for the N clue after looking up a word in the dictionary.

I also know the name of the cattle.

Unfortunately, they won't fit into the last spaces I have left in my grid, which means I've made a mistake.

Any hints for the W word will be gratefully received and what or who is the rugby player?

Once again thanks Malone. I've just realised that I already had the answer. I didn't realise it. Thanks for the parsing.

Glad you've resolved some things, Roof. Do you still need a hint for a W answer?

Thanks Quisling

Not the best of clues but at least I am clear. My appreciation!
