I'd be glad of hints about how the clues work for the long B and G solutions. (And are the five solutions which occupy two or three spaces as much of a confusing factor as I fear they may be?)

long B clue....hot synonym for baked
books - OT (bible)
atop - above

G ...6 letter synonym for coarse (starts with R) inside a 4 letter synonym for walk missing its last letter ( horse walk possibly)

No the 5 long solutions aren't too bad to fit in once you start filling the grid...

The long B has Hot = the first word, Books = a usual crossword abbreviation and a four-letter word meaning 'above'. The abbreviation and the 4-letter word gets reversed/turned over. The finished answer if food-related.

The G word is a four-letter word for walk (noun, way of walking), with the last letter removed - so 'short walk'. Inside, there's a six-letter word for coarse/rude. Another thematic entry...

Thank you both. Some of the clues here are quite straightforward but I would never have guessed those two on my own without the crossers.

Hi Sloth. Are you sure of these positions for "B" & "O"? The "O" clues are 8 & 4,7 letters - there are no such lengths in the lower left of the grid.

Hi Myla - There are only 2 11-letter solutions (B and O) and only 2 11-letter spaces in the grid.

Hi Pog. I see what you mean but I thought Sloth meant the bottom left-hand corner for the "o" clue.

Hi, Please can anyone help me with what would be 2 across? I have N as the second letter which suggests it is one of the e 9 letter words or the 'i' one. However, the e ones I have worked out have either o as the fourth letter or r, neither of which can be right, (The 'i' one also has 'o' as the fourth letter.
Also is the 10 letter 'a' clue 11 across?

Rp… I no longer have my grid, but I think 2 A is an E word, with an R in the fourth spot. It's a thematic answer.

Myla - I think Sloth just meant that O is on the left, running vertically close to the centre, but finishing near the bottom whereas B is on the right, running vertically but starting close to the top. Does that make sense?
