A Schadenfreude puzzle is always a treat... though this one is tinged with sadness (as the setter died last month).

Sad news indeed - John Henderson included a brief "In Memoriam" with last week's Inquisitor.

All done and dusted here apart from one slight problem. I only have 9 of the 10 "letter omitted" clues. I am missing an E - I have one at 12 across but can't find t'other - not that it really matters!

The other E is in 4dn (3 letter word for 'vessel' upturned).

I need help with
3d. Once forced open second tank turned left (7)

36a. Support in the Aegean perhaps backing Caucasian king (6)

3d - "turned left" is a naval term. Tank is extra

36a - an odd name which doesn't look right when half-completed. Think golf for "support"

What is the def in 36a?
Support in Med or Support in Mer.
Support with med.

Sunray - the definition is Caucasian king. Not Med or mer - you used the word in your question.

The penny has now dropped for the second title. Sunray the name you get for 36 is quite unusual, I had to google it to check.

Tried different combination and found the King meaning eagle.
My hat's off to those of you knew this word.
