Oh dear, I seem to have gone badly wrong. I thought it was about a theatre but I couldn’t make the three words of “my” group from my sixteen clashes, too many E’s. Neither wonder I couldn’t find Cromer! Did wonder where a Jane Austen character fitted. What a mess, ha.

This puzzle has been keeping me awake for days now and the hints here haven't helped!! Royalty? Theatre? 007? Cromer? Jane Austen? I have a complete grid, have spotted the motto, identified the clashes and their distinctive shape, but can't work out how to resolve the clashes and can't see the group. I have entries for the 5 thematic clues but a possible full answer for only one of them, 13A, a well known name shared by 2 women neither of whom can I see linked to what I thought was the theme. Hoping someone can drop a broad hint to point me in the right direction .

Her name is 5 letters ..bottom row . She played all the parts in the 5 (6 if you include the middle one) special clues.

3 defns for one of those gave lady BRACK nell
another one was mrs FAIR fax
and anne HATH away..........
