Hi all I have a full grid and am now pondering the endgame-
17d Elder in denial over losing boxers. (4) A?NE
The answers is clearly a hidden word but there’s too many words. Is this one of the clues with superfluous letters or not?
Also, struggling with what definition is for 11d.

Just read backwards, Lumen - there's not that much to search.

11 D. Def- out to the world.

Thanks Malone, I know the answer to 17, just asking about the point of the ‘losing boxers’ and if this is one of the date clues or not!

lumen,
I took 17d boxers to mean the letters that box the answer. So lose D and L.

I do not know if it is a date clue.

I am just picking this up again.

sunray,

3: Jumble of ISNT framed by PEE

28: W for 'With' + an old word for 'long' reversed.
('Long' as in yearn, not measurement.)

6: A three letter word meaning 'realise' + an abbreviation for smallish units of time.

The only clue I can't understand is 22dn, even though the answer starts with W and is obvious.
