Thanks, Brendan. We might have wandered away from pedantry... but that's only because I've not noticed any horrors (grammatic or otherwise) recently. Any serious infringements would feel the full weight of PU sanctions (don't ask for details, I haven't thought of any yet.)

It's funny you mention "Bear". I went into the jungle this afternoon and met a chap called "Bear" who showed me your posting on his phone. It was a different "Bear" though. This one was showing some tourists how to "survive". He is an expert apparently. He showed them how to cook a dish he called "Grylls Grilled Gryllidae", although I have no idea how it got its name.

It is nutritious if not attractive.

Brendan

Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed it.

I love the Whit stuff - more please!

Thanks, jigjag. I'd wanted to get the Whitsuns (we're old friends, I'm allowed the informality) into my Christmas Island stuff, but I was short of time.

I'm glad Bear (your other Bear) wasn't on Christmas Island when I was there - I might have been tempted to stuff and roast him, with or without quinoa, freekeh etc.

Tyke51, thanks very much for your kind comment on the travelogues. A bit of silliness from time to time does us no harm!

Jigjag, your sketches are always so good, I'm slightly hesitant about responding - I wouldn't like to see standards slide!

I'm working my way through some holiday brochures, wondering where to go next... Ascension Island has a certain ring to it, I feel.

My holiday seems to have revived me, my EDD (Error Detection Device) returned this evening. I was watching 'Travel Man - 48 Hours...'. After the ad-break, the presenter announced 'You rejoin Bob Mortimer and I in Hamburg.' I know this appals many PU members and I
….know how they feel (nearly caught you out there, didn't I? Bet you thought I'd fallen into the trap myself.)

Thanks - Glad you enjoyed it, and I believe England won.

Malone

Please dont be hesitant - your stuff is always creative and humorous. We all appreciate it (and the time it takes). Yes, I think Ascension Day is the next "Holy Day of Obligation", or is it Corpus Christi, I am not sure.

And on the topic of punning . .

Our local crematorium has a coffee-shop which proudly bears the monicker:

"Creme de la Crem"

Tends to leave me cold . .

As a pedant, rather than commenting on the poor pun, I should be checking on the correctness of the French article . .
