There's a six-word proverb about meddling, the last two words of which ("the victim") should appear in the middle of the central row. Add the remaining three letters of 21 ac and treat them thematically with the fourth word of the proverb and you get the word which can follow Hollywood

Sure, I know who they are, Malone. I'm French, but how could I avoid them during those years spent in the UK ha ha. But I can't think of a relevant saying. I'll have to keep scratching my head, I suppose.

Thanks, manu - it's sometimes hard to tell what stage solvers are at, so I never assume anything. As you couldn't avoid them, I expect you found there was a surfeit of them.....

Got the wrong 5-letter ???? in the middle of the grid! In consequence I had one wrong unchecked letter for 21ac. I knew something was wrong. Got it now! Thanks to both of you!

If anyone could confirm that Murray Walker indicates Jamie, and shed some light on why, I'd be most grateful

Is 4a a correct clue? I thought the canine teeth were fangs but the answer would appear to be the front teeth.

Also my puzzle is titled Hoillywood but the preamble mentions Hollywood. A mistake I assume.

orson, Fang is a tooth of a wolf or dog while the answer means a cutting tooth.
A Fang can be assumed to be a cutting tooth, Loosely speaking.

I was wondering about Hoillywood too,

I am stuck on 11a, 12d and 27d. But have no idea about the phrase or names yet.
