Hi Bunty,

2a is one of the single clues. Do you remember the advert for washing machines "the appliance of science"? Def is Muslims, Half of a word for touchy/easily offended around an abbr for America

3a Clue divides at West/Maine. Old-fashioned word for bathing (not in the washing sense). Next one is def=confusion, abbr for Maine

Hi Xwordfan,

10d. Clue splits at Role/Henry. First part is a hidden clue, name of swash-buckling film star of old.Second is def= title of respect, Henry=H,special=S

10a Split Electronic/Location. First part def=dismisses, initials for a university, word for groups minus E. Second part def=location device (think wartime)

1d must start on the top row....otherwise clues wouldn't be in order.....do you mean column 1 or 2?
