I have an answer that works, but "Beast shaving head in harmony" would seem to make more sense as the clue.

There are two beasts if you add two different letters to the answer.

I agree with you ChrisE re that one but, although I see the reference in the 'X' clue, I cannot find a word in any of my dictionaries to fit. Any hints?

It's a genus name. More usually referred to as toads than frogs, but frog isn't wrong.
