Still struggling through, most of the bottom half still to get. Perhaps some hints for 17ac 9 6 16 with Richard regulars at tennis . And 25ac Scrooge, say, broke , about to chuck last bit away.

I think 17ac ends tens.

17 to start think of a diminutive form of Richard

25 Think of a word for broke with a word to throw - minus the last letter - inside

25a Scrooge = definition.
Slang word for broke (no money) around incomplete word for chuck.

Thanks Zozozo and Rossim

I've got the Richard one, but must break off now to watch Cardinal. I'll keep working at Scrooge.

Hi everyone

A mere seven left now, but I must go to bed. Perhaps when I wake up refreshed I'll be able to see what is obvious to everyone else.

Hi Roof
I don't think some of these answers are obvious to 'everyone else'.
Several people have given up on this one, me included now.
I've got more important things to do.
Good luck!
