This is like drawing teeth - not enjoying it; I particularly dislike clues like 11,20,3,14 - I feel as if I'm being short-changed on clues!

On the point of giving up with about 1/3 done, but before I do, a hint for 1d might get me going again (the surface is fairly typical!)

P 6th letter

8th letter of 1d is O

Got it. Hardly a fair clue, though, as you need to guess the solution from the vague definition, then put it together. I don't think there's any way realistically of building up the answwer from the components. How did you work it out?

I agree, Enigmatist can be a real struggle sometimes. I have finished it but a few I cannot parse or even be bothered trying to. It doesn't help when the big long one appears to be lacking something, unless the obscure clueing is hiding something from me.

Apart from anything else, Enigmatist has got 11,20,3,14 wrong.

I agree that this is not an enjoyable experience. Nearly done, but with reservations, and I agree with chrise: like pulling teeth.

Don't have crossword so bit of a leap. Saw speed as mph and the only Affleck vehicle I knew was Argo. Hard to see with m ph put photograph and micro together. Back filled I crop + hot powerful + Argo backwards all in Mph. Mixture of leap and reverse engineering ?
