Thanks Scorps! I am well on my way now.

At what point do people start filling in ? I am at 32 of 52 solved. Looks like S and W are the key clues.

My first in was the non-thematic D.

I'm impressed Chrise. I didn't get much chance to do the crossword yesterday or Saturday ( too busy cooking etc.) but have got down to it late last night and today. Personally , I agree that S and W must be the key. I can't seem to fit my non themed answer to D into my last two 7 letter spaces, so either I've entered them into the grid all wrong or I have the wrong answer. Any hints for the right answer. I can't even see how I got the answer I wrote down now.

The non-thematic S and W were among the last I solved, in fact. I'm still not entirely convinced that I've got the W one right!

Plus to g.. is to make fun of + small and the whole thing - along with made man, good fella etc. are supposedly terms for members of the mafia.

I'm still none the wiser. Do I remove name from something? The two possibilities I have are ?A?S?R? or ?E?F?S? What is the definition?
