Cheated?? I thought crosswords these days were written for people sitting at a computer, not people like me in the bath with the paper, a biro and a cup of tea!
Consequently, I still have some way to go. Please could someone tell me if the 70s comedy is the name of a 70s comedy and if I am looking for a farceur and French retail chain?
Good luck finishing this devil without some sort of search engine. I think I have completed it but several impossible to parse. The comedy is a well known series, I think Goldie Hawn was in it several times. As for the other I would say you are looking for an institution and a French retail chain.
I was quite excited when I saw a new Maskarade puzzle but Oh dear! I admire the patience you all must have but for me, doing this crossword would be like filling in a general knowledge crossword having had to look up all the answers. Where's the fun in that? I have given up ( which is highly unusual for me) and will read a good book this week instead.
Belated thanks to Patgreg. I remember watching the "70s comedy" in the late 1960s. The "farceur" died very recently. I have a fishy answer for 28a but don't understand the clue at all. Any enlightenment available?
