eg. grub!! (anag)

Thanks Ixion. Your answer re 14 makes 2d interesting because I can't find a 19 22 that will fit. I also had 17d as a place name (after 19 22).

Have spent too much time on this already and jobs await

14A first word defined by "cheer up", 2nd word birds of a certain sort, collectively.

Hard to say much about the 19,22 but it seems to fairly standard.

No, no. I have 14 and 19 22. My problem is the intersection of 2 and 14. I can change the first part of 14 to fit 2 unchanged) although it makes the whole of 14 a bit of a nonsense, but I can't find a changed word for 2 that would fit with 14 (unchanged), if that makes sense. Also, the only changed word I can find for 17 is the name of a place in France.

2dn changed is a musical instrument and 17dn changed is not a place. A hint for 16dn please?

I think (but this is the blind leading the myopic) that the original word is an old black and white tv show starring james garner and the replacement is a word for cloth - so you change letters 3,7 and 8. Pretty sure I have the second word of 14 but stuck on the first and have no clue (!) about 3,4,6,8,15 or 21 - so far I have only 5 changers so most of those presumably need to adapt

If you google 19,22 emulator the first result is the system I used for the potential changers.
