Thanks Elle, I'll remember now, and I am glad to have given Susan food for a play on words. If you only knew the number of times I have made people laugh because of a 'guess' translation !

How did your day go? Enjoyed yourselves?

When you next speak to Rusty, he may have something to ask you (re his post 829 and my reply) ...!!!

Yes, thank you, Pigale, we had a lovely time! Our youngest grandson is a delight!
I've scrolled back to post 829...I think Rusty and I must both lead very sheltered lives... I didn't know that this went on either! although I could hazard a guess at what was meant!

I don't know what it means, Elle.
I am sorry I asked....so I am.
I want to go to my grave innocent and pure.

Hi Elle and Pigale, count me in as well on living a sheltered life. I'm now progressing on from the two glasses of wine to a mug of tea and an early night, after watching what must be the funniest episode of Dad's Army, you know it, the one with the pantomime horse in the field. I guess you might say I'm living dangerously!! Night all!

...and I hope no one posts an explanation, as it would probably be deleted by admin. anyway.

Elle, I have got a feeling Rusty knew exactly what I meant, but was just teasing me! At least this is how I took it!

Susan, don't be too impressed, I always had family in England - my mother's sister married an English man and they lived in Witney - thus the first time I came over on a holiday with my parents I was only 6. Of course I did not speak a word of English then, but the benefit came later when learning the language at school, I was lucky to be able to go on holiday to my aunt's and put whatever I had learnt into practice

Later, I decided I wanted to live there permanently which I did from 1972 to 1989. So living and working in the country goes a long way to improving one's knowledge of a language!

Hiya Jazzy, I'm gonna take the risk anyway. What happens is, one man stands up, another man stands behind him, puts his arms around him, a third person, male or female, it doesn't matter, throws a big brown blanket over them both and the two men gallop as horse-like as possible around a field. There, I've said it!

Pigale, I am afraid you are wrong about me.
I do not know what you meant.
I am a simple soul.
But, please don't feel bad about it.
Worse things happen at sea.
