Thanks, Rusty. I sometimes find it infuriating when I feel I should know something - something that I probably did know at one time - but it's somehow been wiped from my brain! Other people - my husband, for one - seem able to retain lots of seemingly meaningless bits and pieces that come in useful one day. And yes, it's interesting - and educational - at times on the Forum.

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been catching up on an "old" episode of "Casualty"!
Just one more to go now, before I am up-to date.
Oh, well that is good if your son will still stay relatively near to you
But yes, you will miss his being as close as he is at present!
We get used to our current situations.
My husband occasionally suggests our down- sizing......or even moving out of London.....
But we are reasonably near family here; our younger daughter and son are not too far away.
We have friends within easy range, and good neighbours in the street.
The doctor, dentist , local hospital and shops are all within relatively easy reach
And there is a choice of local transport.
All this is reassuring as one grows older, isn't it?
I am all for staying put!
Fine outside.......time to let the dog out for a last run around and "toilet" visit!

Hello, Elle!
My son won't be too far away.
And then there's myself.
I have been thinking of a move, too.
Just through chatting with granddaughters.
They are "wise" beyond their years, so I take heed of what they say.
But it's only a thought, at the moment.
Seems to be dry outside here, too.

Hello, Malone,
Just spotted your post!
I am the same.
Little bits of info refusing to come out.
Mind you, we all have bits of info filed away, that no one else has.
One of mine is, I know the name of the bull which killed the great matador, Manolete, in the ring at Linares, in 1947.
Why it's stuck in my brain I don't know, but it is!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is a lovely day here at the moment....it was fresh and energising when I was out with the dog.
But I fear the sunshine will be short lived.......rain is forecast for late morning.
You are considering a house move?
What do your granddaughters think that you should do?
It is of course always wise to think of the future.
But then I think a lot depends on one's health and general fitness, whatever one's age.
However, there are often ways to deal with situations that might arise.... safety precautions that can be set in place...... stair lifts , alarm systems ……. should one prefer to remain in one's present home.
Athletics World Championships start this afternoon!
I am looking forward to it!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here.
I'm just home.
Been out in the car doing a wee job.
Basically, my young ones think I should move to a smaller home.
So that is a possibility (no more than that, though, at present).
We shall see !!!
Yes, athletics today.
Wonder what like Doha will be?
Must have been a few backhanders for Doha to get the Championships!
Cycling and racing at Newmarket on TV too.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah yes, I see.
Well, I suppose a smaller house would certainly mean less housework and maintenance, for you.
And unlike us, you do not need the extra bedrooms for when family come to stay with you, as all your relatives live within easy reach!
(This is one of my main reasons for not wanting us to "down size"!)
BUT you like it where you are...you have good friendly neighbours , and you all look out for, and help, each other, when necessary......even if it's only taking in a parcel or cutting grass, or running an errand.
This friendly responsible atmosphere is important.
That's my two penn'orth, for what it's worth!
I think it's the first time that the World Athletics Championships have been held in the Middle East?
And because of the heat, the events are only taking place in the afternoons!

Hello, Elle!
A bit chilly today.
I've the heating on!
I don't think the Championships should have gone to Doha.
Far too hot there for 95% of the athletes, I'd say?
Pound to a penny there is corruption involved.
I was reading about Michael Johnson earlier and his recovery from the stroke he had.
Imagine someone as fit as Michael having a stroke!
Be good to see him back on the BBC panel over the next few days.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I cannot remember the circumstances in which the decision was reached to hold the World Championships in Qatar?
Or how long ago that was?
You could well be right about corruption...sadly, it seems to be all around us!
i hope that all the events go well there, and that the heat does not prove too much for the athletes.
It must be about a year now since Michael Johnson had his stroke?
Fortunately, he made a very quick recovery and seems well now.
I always like to see him on the discussion panel of the Athletics programmes.
He is a nice man ...one of the good guys, isn't he?
We have had some rain...although it has stopped for now.
I must take the dog out briefly, before i settle down to watch the sport!

Hello, Elle!
I am guessing about the World's in Qatar, but it stinks to high heaven.
The football World Cup is also getting played in Qatar and the corruption in that choice is obvious.
So much so, that five of FIFA's main sponsors, including Coca Cola, Adidas, Visa, Hyundai, have demanded enquiries into why Qatar was chosen.
I don't think they had any football stadiums, and I have never heard of a Qatar football team.
There is concern about athletes doping in many sports, but the ruling bodies are even more corrupt.
Rant over!
I like Michael Johnson and I think he is one of the good guys.
l like his deep baritone voice!
Hope you enjoy the sport, and I hope the rain stays away from Yorkshire!
