Thank you rusty.

It is 33 degrees here and apparently feels like 35, which we will be getting about 4pm. Luckily I opened the front door, to see the postman had left a parcel of plants I ordered a while back. The poor things! I have watered them, put them in as cool place as I can find with poly bags (rescued ones!) over both plants and pots. I hope your new plants survive, elle.

I'm still reading "Sovereign", chris. I don't like it. Too long, too much nastiness.

I got an 1841 death cert this morning- he died of TB as did the last one I sent for. These men were 50 and 60 and the 50 year old at least lived in a 5 acre garden.

Hello, Elle!
I presume it just in my area the thunderstorms are forecast?
I was only in the pub for a few minutes.
The landlady only needed a bit of advice, but, mind you, the beer looked very tempting, and it was nice and cool in the bar!
I have no fans but have several windows open and one or two wasps have decided to venture in!
Mackies' ice cream is excellent!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
We have just had a downpour!
It was totally unexpected!
I have now checked the local forecast again and we, too, are in for a thunderstorm in the late evening.
I am not doing very much......a bit of pottering about doing a few odd jobs, but mostly sitting in front of the fan, reading.....
How is the cycling going?
I feel sorry for the riders, competing in the extreme heat...
Let us hope all goes calmly...... no fracas, no crashes......a peaceful ride.

Hello, Ros!
Well, we have done the best we can for the plants......if we can get them though today's high temps., then hopefully the promised rain over the weekend will do the rest.

Hello, Elle!
Lucky you with the downpour!
No such luck here, though we are not nearly as hot as you folks down London way!
Cycling has just finished. Just a couple of minor crashes today.
Was a great stage! Several attacks etc.
Incredibly, LouLou is still in yellow (and he had no fights to sort out today!).
A one-day classics rider could be on the verge of winning a grand tour!
I hope he can hold on, but two more days in the Alps before Paris.
My son is not a-visiting me this night.
His wife and him are going to the pictures to see the new Lion King film.
I understand Beyonce Knowles is the voice of one of the lions?

Yes Elle, lucky you indeed with your downpour! We may have some
rain and thunderstorms tomorrow evening/Saturday. I don't like
them but this time, I am hoping for one (small one...)

What a good cycling day Rusty! Beautiful scenery and good riding -
I am very impressed with young Egan Bernal lying 2nd in the GC!
I would imagine that losing a rider in the team did not help Geraint
Thomas.
Like you I hope Julian can hold onto his yellow jersey for two more
mountain days!!!
Good to see Quintana in good form too
I believing he will not race in the TdeF next year? How old is he?

Hi, Rusty!
Oh, the rain did not achieve a let up in the heavy atmosphere.....
It was of no benefit whatsoever......a heavy shower, but over very quickly.
And the wet did not linger...the ground was dry almost instantaneously!
A few minutes later, and there was no evidence that it had ever happened!
I am glad you have had a good day's cycling viewing.
It would make up for the disappointments of yesterday.
You will miss your son's visit..... will he come tomorrow instead?
I know he often does that if he has occasion to miss a Thursday.
I have never seen any of Lion King films....I am afraid I do not know about Beyonce?
My daughter phoned as usual on her way home, but got cut off twice en route...maybe something to do with the weather?

Hello, Pigale!
Yes, a very enjoyable day! Lots of action and great scenery!
Egan Bernal is a very promising young rider.
I understand he has signed a 5-year contract with Team Ineos.
I have never known a rider to sign for 5 years!
That's a long time!
His attack was excellent, and goodness knows what Thomas was thinking about when he attacked shortly after.
You don't do that!
He was bringing rivals closer to his team mate!
I was very surprised at Geraint!
I did not know Quintana was not riding next year?
I think he is leaving Team Movistar at the end of the season, though.
I hope LouLou can defend his jersey in the Alps and take it to Paris!
He has just two brutal stages to go, and then Paris!

Hello, Elle!
Maybe you will get more thundershowers later?
Today's cycling was top class!
My son may visit tomorrow, he did not say.
Beyonce is a popular American singer.
She was in Destiny's Child (I think that was the name?) which was a girl singing group.
Then went on her own.
The only song that I know of hers, is "Single Ladies".
And I liked it!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, you were right!
We have now had our second thunderstorm...... louder thunder, heavier rain and lasting longer...
I wonder if we are in for a night of it?
It is still very hot and sticky.....most unpleasant.
I must think what to organise for dinner...we are not feeling like eating anything hot.
Maybe a salad?
I shall go and forage.....

Hello, Elle!
Was heavy rain here, but eased a tad, now.
Cooled things down a bit, though.
Did you have a salad?
I had digestive biscuits and coffee.
I have been exploring more of Robert Frost's poetry, and may even buy a book of his poems.
There are several different ones on Amazon.
And lots of his work on YouTube.
I discovered that he read one of his poems at the inaugaration of President Kennedy.
Never knew that.
Very loud thunder outside!
