Hello, Elle!
It is a bit duller here.
I have not had athletics on.
Will catch up on YouTube this evening.
I have mainly the cycling on. Great Pyrenean scenery!
No fireworks so far, but I'm expecting attacks on the yellow jersey.
The golf will still be on this evening.
It's a cracker of a course at Portrush!

Hi, Rusty!
I had a very enjoyable afternoon's viewing of the London Anniversary Games!
Laura Muir won the 1500m race with ease....Jemma Reekie did well, too, in getting a PB.
It was good to see James Ellington racing again in the 100m.
This was his first time back on the track, after his horrific motorbike accident back in 2017.
I am looking forward to Day Two tomorrow!
The Newsreader said that it was very gusty weather at Portrush!

Hello, Elle!
I'll catch Laura on YouTube!
It is quite breezy at Portrush.
For me, the windier the better for the Open.
Cycling was good today.
Alaphilippe put more time into his rivals.
A lot of suffering on Tourmalet.
And mountains again tomorrow.
Great scenery in the Pyrenees!
No bears yet, but maybe tomorrow!

Good evening, Rusty!
Yes, Laura ran a brilliant race.
There was a good British showing in the events today...we have quite a number of up-and - coming athletes, don't we?
That is good to see!
I enjoyed today's crossword!
My favourites were 10a: nimbus; 24a: Rigby; 11a: brunette;
19a: lamppost; and 3d:altruism.
I liked the George Formby reference!
I thought of you when I was doing 8d.........
I could hear you groaning about the "Londonism"!
A clever clue though?
I have "The Voice Kids " to watch tonight!
I do like that.

Hello, Elle!
Yep, Laura is the biz!
I agree with all your favourites, too.
Good clues, I think!
It took me a wee while to work out which George are we speaking about!
Now, 8d, I see "smart"/fly and I get "boxer" but the parse eludes me.
Maybe the London thing I don't grasp?
Setter too cute for me with that one!
Weather forecast for Portrush is it's to be wet and windier!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, there are some great clues today.
Re 8d:
Kensington is in W8....
This "postcode written in letters" is 'W....eight'
Yes, unfair probably for a non - Londoner......although I guess one has the option of Googling it.
Now....... I am just going to watch the Semi Final of "The Voice Kids".
I'll be back in a bit!

Hello, Elle!
I would be here until the cows came home and not got that!
I simply don't know the postcode for Kensington.
So, I'll give best to our setter on that one, even though I got the correct answer!
It is a good clue though, now you have explained it, Elle!
Hope you like "The Voice Kids"!

Hi, Rusty!
"The Voice Kids" has just finished.
Yes, as usual , I did enjoy it!
I shall look forward to the Final next week.
Actually, Rusty, had you asked me beforehand what the postcode was for Kensington, I should not have been able to tell you!
But at least I had the advantage of knowing that it was in West London........so I had the "W"!
I then worked it out from the clue.
As I said previously , difficult for any one not knowing at least the Geography of London,
But a great clue none-the-less.
Time for a coffee!

Hello, Elle!
Well, I would not be certain Kensington was part of London or not, and certainly would not have had a clue to which part of London it is in.
On reflection though, Elle, I should have spent a bit more time on the clue, and just maybe, I would have twigged the "W eight"!
A very good clue from that scallywag of a setter, yes !!
