Hi, Rusty!
It has been a thoroughly miserable day here weather wise....
And tomorrow, we are threatened with thunderstorms for most of the day!
Now I do not mind walking in the rain, as I have all the necessary wet weather gear.... but the dog is afraid of thunder.....and I must admit to my not liking lightning.
Let us hope for a calm spell first thing in the morning, when I take the dog out for her walk.
I have had a good day catching up with my correspondence.
How have you fared with the golf?
I do not understand why the fastest cyclists go last?
If they are racing, and are the current leaders , then surely they have won the right to go first?
It is not making sense to me?
No crossword today - I have had a break!

Hello, Elle!
Bit wet and windy here, too.
I am enjoying the golf.
Portrush is a proper golf course!
The riders go in reverse order of their placings in the general classification.
Yellow jersey is last man off.
If it was the other way, folk would lose interest quickly after the first 10 or so riders had finished.
In reverse order, the interest and excitement is held right until the end.
Alaphilippe won!
I wonder if France may have found the rider they have lacked for so many years!
Tough luck for Wout van Aert.
He crashed into a barrier and his Tour is over.
He was doing very well, too.
I finished my puzzle early this morning!

Hi, Rusty!
Lordy, these cycle crashes! Was Wout van Aert badly hurt?
So if the fastest leaves last, how are the placings worked out?
Are the individuals each timed from start to finish - and then placed in order of fastest ... rather than first to the "post"?
How are the girls enjoying their holiday?
Have you heard from them.....or had news of them from your son?
Shepherd's pie and mushy peas for dinner!

Hi rusty
I've just watched the highlights of the time trial, and I'm very sorry to say that it stinks of bad fish. I like Alaphillippe, and would like him to do well, but he has never figured in a Grand Tour time trial; then now he suddenly wins one?
I wonder if his team just wanted him to lose a few seconds to the genuine time-triallers, but slightly overdid the stimulant?

Good evening, Elle!
Jumbo-Visna say van Aert has a very deep cut at the top of his leg where he hit the barrier.
Not heard of an update, but it was a bad crash.
He appeared to be conscious going into the ambulance.
He seemed to have misjudged the corner.
Doubly unfortunate because up to then he was fastest at all the splits.
Today's stage was an individual time trial, Elle.
Each rider starts on his own, gets a time, which is added to his time in the general classification.
The girls are fine, and say it is "very hot"!
They are there for three weeks.
I had two apple turnovers for my tea!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I understand now that you tell me it was a Time Trial.
I hope the man who crashed will be okay.
I read today that Chris Froome is making good progress, and, although it will still be a longish rehabilitation, has sat on his bike and pedalled with one leg!
These cyclists are either very brave .......or very daft!
Two apple turnovers? Oh, but you have your main meal at lunch time , don't you?
All I had for lunch were blueberries and a yoghurt!
It is great that your granddaughters are enjoying themselves!
Three weeks is a good break!
BB is now on school holidays!
I think he is going to Football Club next week.

Hello, Elle!
Sorry, Elle, I did not realise you did not know today's stage was against the clock.
Wout van Aert has undergone surgery and the hospital said they are keeping him for several days.
His directeur sportif said the wound was awful and Wout panicked when he saw how deep it was.
I don't know if cyclists are brave or not, but most are a bit daft!
I mostly eat when I'm hungry, Elle, not at set times.
That suits me best.
The girls are enjoying themselves.
It is raining here.

Good morning, Rusty!
Cagoule and wellies weather here ......
But no thunderstorms as yet!
I hope it is brighter up your way?
I am in for most of the day now, apart from a second dog walk, as I plan to watch the London Anniversary Games this afternoon.
I am looking forward to that!
How about you?
Any plans?

Good day, Elle!
Was heavy rain here earlier, but a nice day now.
Just home.
Been a-visiting some of the family.
I am possibly home for the rest of the day.
Is Laura Muir running today, I wonder?
I'll tune in to the cycling and golf, I think.

Hi, Rusty!
What an astonishing change in the weather!
From an earlier horrendous thunderstorm, we now have a deep blue sky, and brilliant sunshine!
I have just been out with the dog.......but am home now for the rest of the day.
I am just going to watch the remainder of the Anniversary Games..... and will catch up later with the section I have already missed, as I am recording it.
How are the cycling and golf going?
Are you managing to fit in any Athletics, as well?
