Good morning, Elle!
Warm sunny day with me, too.
I had a trip to the cemetery today.
I have not heard from the girls since Newark.
As long as they are in touch with Mum and Dad, that's fine.
How is your socket today?

Hi, Rusty!
I am feeling okay..... thank you for asking!
My tooth socket seems to be doing nicely.
My cheekbone area is a tad sore, where I had one of the injections......but that will soon wear off.
I, too, need to go the Crematorium sometime soon...with new plants, and also to clean the memorial stone ( an engraved marble slab set in the ground, on which we stand the plants)
Were you just making a regular trip, or was it to mark an anniversary or birthday?
It is always nice to see the graves / memorial stones lovingly tended, isn't it?
I am sure you will soon hear again from the girls!
They will be sending you photos!
I heard from my daughter in Amsterdam early this morning.....she has sent some lovely pictures.
Her course started at 10am.
No service engineer has arrived as yet......

Hello, Elle!
Your socket will heal soon!
No, just my normal visit to the cemetery.
I just go when it comes into my head!
Had the place to myself almost.
Just a man with a little girl and a dog, were the only folk there.
And your daughter is doing fine in Amsterdam?
Off to buy milk, which I forgot to get this morning!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, my daughter is enjoying her time in Amsterdam.
Most of it is spent working, but she is doing a bit of sight-seeing, too.
She comes home tomorrow evening.
The British Gas engineer finally arrived!
His phone wasn't working, so he didn't give the customary call, but just landed on the doorstep.
Boiler and radiators now checked and all passed as in good working order.
Another thing to tick off the list!
Two old friends dropped by to see us.
Previous neighbours, they were here to visit their brother, who still lives in the street.
It was good to see them and catch up first hand with their family news.
And now I am about to take out the dog........!

Good evening, Elle!
It has been warm here today.
Glad to hear your daughter is enjoying her time in Amsterdam!
And good news about the boiler etc.
Mine was done not so long ago.
I had a canny day, no Tour!
Did not think much of the homothingy in 21d.

Hi, Rusty!
No, I agree!
I can see no possible way that "yours" could ever sound like "yaws"!
I had a few problems with today's puzzle.....denatured; calabrese; and wahoo were all new words to me.
And I could not see where "member" fit in with 27a?
Strip staff member giving support in tent (9)
I have ridgepole = giving support in tent (def)
ridge - strip
pole - staff
Have I got this wrong? Where does "member" fit in?
Yes, a beautiful evening here, too!

As I am on the forum, 'member' is part of the def.
member - a constituent part of a structure

Hello, Elle!
Strange things a-going on!
I am sure I posted a reply to your post, but it seems to have vanished!
Either that, or I am going loopy!
Anyway, I think "member" is superfluous, but not wrong, as Cerasus kindly pointed out.
And I am not fond of ridge/strip.
I chanced my mitt with "iambi", too, as metrical could have to do with verse, perhaps.
I don't think I would go a-scrambling through a bed of nettles to tackle another of this setter's puzzles.
I have to log off now, as Chrome wants to do an update.

Thank you , Cerasus.
I didn't come across that definition when I looked it up.
